What self-employment using AI actually looks like in 2026 | 6min Read
6min Read | Watch | Listen

Hey there Freedom Builders!
Eighty meat birds showed up a day early.
I was 300 browser tabs deep into a launch I built without a single contractor. Landing pages. Sales copy. Checkout flow. PDFs. A low-cost offer feeding into a thousand-dollar offer. Multiple chats open. Claude Code burning tokens in the background.
The kind of work that used to need a copywriter, a designer, a dev team, and a project manager.
Then I got a text.
Eighty meat bird chicks. Showing up a day early. Thirty minutes to build them a home.
I walked away from the command station. Drove to the mutual aid groups home base.

Helped build the brooders. Got them settled. Came back. Kept building.
Just launched my first vibe-coded app months ago I had no business building.
This is what self-injoyment using AI actually looks like in 2026. Not the LinkedIn version. Not the influencer version. The real one.
The shift in the last four months is not incremental. It is structural. The work I did this morning would have been three months and a team. Work most people still believe AI cannot do.
Why You Should Care This Week:
Goodfella Life Is Already Possible. Information comes to you. You decide. Execution happens in the background.
LinuxFest Was The Problem. This Issue Is The Path Through. The dangers are real, and so is the way out.
Viral Post Optimizer Is Live. Stop posting blind. See your post before Facebook eats it.
Goodfella Life Is The Answer To Last Weekend's Talk
Last weekend I gave my "10 AI Dangers You Will Face in This Lifetime" talk at LinuxFest Northwest.
Turns out, calling them "in this lifetime" was generous. These dangers are running right now. Lavender AI in Palestine on a 10 percent error rate the operators called acceptable. Patents covering vehicles that monitor your emotional state. Vehicle kill switches mandated by 2027.
The presentation got the room sober. The next question was the one that mattered.
So what do we do about it?
Godfather Life is the answer.
Picture the boss in Godfather. Sitting at the table. People come up. Whisper in the ear. The boss decides. Build that. That looks good. Kill that. Then back to dinner.

That is the relationship I am building with my AI stack.
Information comes to me. I make the call. Execution happens without me touching a keyboard for six hours a day. More time outside. More time with family. Less time staring at a screen.
This week in Beyond The Matrix we got into the infrastructure piece: digital privacy and digital well-being.
Over the next three months, I am building a hybrid PC. Local agentic AI running on my own hardware. Reaching out to frontier models when needed, but pulling the outputs back into my local system. Data stays local. Encrypted. Private. Mine.
That is the foundation. Godfather Life sits on top.
Artificial Does Not Mean Fake
Most people see AI as a terminator coming for human creativity, jobs, truth, relationships, and meaning. That fear lives in the vagueness.
So a quick word study.
Artificial comes from the same root as artisan and artifact. Something made by human skill and craft.
Technology comes from the Greek technē. Method. Skill. An organized way of doing things.
Put them together. Artificial technology means human art plus the methods, the techniques, the tools. Skill made usable through tools.

That is the opposite of how most people use the word.
Once you see it that way, you can finally make four distinctions everyone else is missing:
Tool versus system. A spell-checker is a tool. A program tracking every move you make is a system. Both get called AI.
Helper versus boss. A draft generator helps you write faster. A program deciding who gets a loan replaces human judgment. Both get called AI.
Helping you create versus making it for you. A mood board generator gives an artist ideas. An AI trained to copy a style with nothing behind it is something else entirely. Both get called AI.
Saving time versus making the call. A scheduling bot saves you time. A medical AI making decisions without a doctor checking means no human is responsible if it goes wrong. Both get called AI.
Vague fear makes people passive. Vague hype makes people gullible.
Clear thinking gives people a choice.
I make social posts every day. I take a brainstorm, shape it into something readable, drop in a pattern-breaker image, and put a hook on it that makes the rest impossible to scroll past.
The piece nobody talks about: Facebook's algorithm punishes weird formatting. You can write a strong post and watch it die because the line breaks rendered wrong on mobile.
So I built an app that shows you what your post is going to look like before you hit publish. On any platform.
That is Viral Post Optimizer. It pairs with the Viral Content Playbook.
Both are live as of this week.
More on this and the Viral Content Kit coming next week.
Tech Corner
Anthropic / Claude
Anthropic crossed a $1 trillion valuation this week, passing OpenAI as the most valuable AI company.
The new AI race is "deepest workflow." Whichever lab gets buried inside the tools you already use wins.
OpenAI / ChatGPT
ChatGPT 5.5 shipped. Immediate quality lift. 5.4 was insufferable. Strategy looks aimed at enterprise developers and coding revenue, with that code feeding the next model.
Chat GPT Image 2 is doing real lifts now: personal color analysis, fashion-editorial collages, iridology readings, garden planning, Instagram carousel prompts. Caution on iris-reading prompts; that may surrender biometric data. Inner Circle members get tips & prompts like this every day.
Today's Takeaways
The window is open now, not later. Mainstream wakes up in roughly three months.
Tool versus system. Helper versus boss. Get clear on what you are actually using.
Local first. Own your data, own your context, own your stack.
Build the life where the tools do the lifting. That is Goodfella Life.
I love reading the responses to these newsletters.
If something landed today, hit reply and tell me what.
If something is going to change in your week because of it, tell me that too.
And if you are sitting there with your mouth open at what is now possible, juggling launches and farm builds and family in the same afternoon, building the kind of life where AI handles the digital lift while you handle the actual life, send me a DM.
I am building an orbit of conscious AI builders. I would prefer to have you next to me.
Stay grounded and keep building,
