Legacy, Resilience, and What You Can't Unfeel

A week about honoring the past, building through the ugly, and watching yourself from the inside out

Hey there Visionaries!

Just got back from Arizona.

Right when we landed home, Beyond The Matrix launched.

Then a stomach bug hit me.

Not ideal timing.

But here's what I know about myself now that I didn't used to: I can feel like garbage and still get the important things done. Not everything. Just the things that matter.

I had filmed the welcome video. Got the first week of content up. Set the live call. The universe gave me just enough runway before the gurgles hit. Then slept for 17hrs.

Sometimes building looks like that. Not clean. Not comfortable. Just done.

But let me start at the beginning, because the real story here is not about productivity. It's about what happens when life calls you to show up for something that actually matters.

Why You Should Give All the Cares:

  • The work you do now might outlast you: What I brought to Arizona and why it stopped a room cold

  • The Observer is live in Beyond The Matrix: This week's topic is one of the foundational pieces of everything I teach

  • Built through the sick anyway: What getting knocked down right after a launch teaches you about yourself

The Room Went Quiet

I went to Arizona for my mentor's celebration of life.

When he passed, something hit me immediately. His body of work needed to be organized before it scattered. That's just how I'm wired. I felt it the moment I heard the news.

So I put together a 160-page document.

His ideas. His frameworks. What he was trying to build. What our working relationship meant over the years. Everything I could pull together to honor what he was creating.

I brought it with me to share with his family.

They thought it was lost.

I walked in with it.

There was shock. Then relief. Then this quiet that settles in a room when something precious gets handed back to the people who love it.

That's why I made the trip. That right there.

And it delivered in a way I'm still sitting with.

One of the things I keep coming back to: organizing and preserving what matters is one of those things I can just do. Didn't realize until that moment how much it could mean to someone else.

Your skills show up for people in ways you can't always predict. Pay attention to that.

The Best Part of Arizona Was Free

We hit the $100 amusement park.

The $50 miniature golf.

The $100 botanical garden.

You know what my daughter could have stayed at all day?

The Tanque Verde canyon we found up in the hills. Fresh snowmelt running through it. 80 degrees of desert sun overhead. Saguaro cacti waving at us on the ridgeline. My kid playing in the sand like she had nowhere else to be in the world.

Completely free.

Every paid attraction was already forgotten by noon.

There's something worth sitting with there. The moments that actually fill you up rarely come with a receipt.

Beyond The Matrix This Week: The Observer

This week's topic is one I keep returning to no matter what else I'm teaching.

The Observer is the part of you that watches your thoughts and feelings without getting dragged around by them. Not just a concept. A practice you have to return to again and again.

W01 The Voice in Your Head Is Lying to You And You've Been Listening for Years

Here's how the week's content is built:

  • A 20-minute talk from me on how this has actually shown up in my life

  • A guidebook you can skim in 10 minutes or go as deep as you want

  • A video deep dive (With the new NotebookLM Video Overviews!)

  • A podcast version for when you're moving

  • AI integration tools to help you process and apply the material

  • Additional resources for anyone who wants to go further

It's designed to meet you where you're at. Not everyone has the same schedule or the same relationship to this stuff.

We also just recorded a companion interview with somatic coach Daniel Rosenberg that pairs really well with this week. He breaks down how your body is holding information your brain keeps skipping past. Solid conversation. Go check it out.

Tonight we have our live integration call where we go through questions and work through the material together.

If you haven't joined yet, it's not too late. Beyond The Matrix is free. I decided this information was too valuable to keep locked behind a price tag.

If you're done wondering what to do and ready to actually do something, come through.

Client Corner

Launched a website this week for a men's coach I've been working with. Solid human doing real work helping men show up better. Go check out Embodying the Practice.

He's also opening a Jujitsu martial arts studio locally in the coming weeks. Planning to be there for the grand opening. Physical challenge, new community. Something to look forward to.

Tech Corner: Quick Hit

Two things on my radar this week.

Anthropic, one of the major AI companies went on record this last week: no AI autonomous weaponry, no AI domestic mass surveillance. Good to see it said out loud. These lines need to be named publicly so they can be held.

Checkout what is possible with the new NotebookLM Video Overviews

ChatGPT also dropped version 5.3, promising to be less cringe. A lot of people have moved to Claude after Anthropic refused the Pentagon's requests. I've shared how to migrate your data with my Inner Circle members.

If you want weekly AI tips all week through a easy DM Signal app, plus dropped how to set up healthy boundaries with your AI so you're using AI instead of AI using you, that's what the Inner Circle is for the price of a coffee. Jump in to conversation.

Today’s Takeaways:

  1. Document what matters now: You might be the only one who does, and it might count more than you know

  2. The Observer is the foundation: Everything you build on top of it gets cleaner when this practice is solid

  3. Free beats expensive: The canyon won. Every time.

Is there someone whose work or ideas you're carrying? A mentor, a family member, someone who didn't get to finish what they started?

Hit reply. I actually read these.

Meanwhile, stay close to what fills you up.

Catch you next week.
