Remember when I worked in restaurants, trapped in a cycle of low pay and dead-end jobs?

My biggest breakthrough wasn't finding the perfect business idea or landing some fancy client. It was realizing I needed different tools for different jobs.

In the kitchen, we'd never use a meat cleaver to dice onions or a paring knife to break down a chicken. Yet with AI, most people try to use the same model for everything—then wonder why they're getting mediocre results.

Let me break down the AI models that will actually give you an edge in 2025:

ChatGPT 4.0 (Default Model)

Think of this as your Swiss Army knife—versatile and dependable. You can upload files, browse the web for real-time info, and handle complex reasoning.

Best For:

• Uploading documents you need analyzed

• Web research tasks when you need fresh info

• Content creation, planning, and coding help

This is your go-to for most daily tasks, especially when you need to work with files or research.

ChatGPT 4.0 with Canvas

Best For:

• Drafting and refining important emails or documents

• Collaborative writing sessions

• Visual brainstorming

I use Canvas when I'm writing important client proposals or emails that need to hit just right. and will need some clean up.

ChatGPT 4.0 Mini

Your speedy sidekick. It's faster than standard models but can't upload files or browse the web. More for API use, I honestly never use it…

GPT-0.1 & o3’s (The Heavy Hitters)

These are the deep thinkers of the bunch. There reasoning and logic capabilities are off the charts, but it burns through usage credits fast.

Best For:

• Complex problems that need step-by-step reasoning

• Situations where quality matters more than speed

• When you need the absolute best output possible

I use this for high-stakes situations where the extra quality is needed.

ChatGPT Pro ($200/month)

Launched in December 2024, this subscription is for serious users. You get unlimited access to all models (including the reasoning powerhouse o1), advanced voice mode, and the game-changing Deep Research tool.

I haven't recommended anyone to get this. But I use it regularly with my marketing and business strategy for clients.

It “thinks” for 1-30 minutes. I've seen it go and can produce some massive research for my clients. I don't know how long I'll continue paying for this. But right now, it's blowing my mind.

Deep Research Feature

This might be the most powerful tool you've never heard of. Released in February 2025, Deep Research is an AI agent that autonomously browses the web, analyzes information, and creates comprehensive, cited reports on any topic.

ChatGPT Plus users are allocated 10 deep research queries per month. This feature is not available on the free plan.

It can process text, images, and PDFs, delivering detailed insights in 5-30 minutes.

I used this last week for a client who needed a complete competitive analysis. What would have taken days of manual research was done in 20 minutes—with better results.
